mm86 asked:
What repairs is each class capable of?
I know a C tech is mainly oil changes, tires, and little things like that. But what type of work would classify you as a B or an A tech?
(I work as a mechanic doing oil changes, tires, brakes, front end/suspension, alignments, trans services, rear/front diff services, tune ups, exhaust, and some other diagnostic work).
I have been trying to figure out what class I would be for future job refences.

in the union shops around st. louis area, you would be considered a helper, according to the kind of work you described. i have never heard of a, b, and c tech. been a journeyman automotive technician for over 25 years.
Hello I think I know what you are talking about. I’ve also been a tech for over 25 yrs. I have seen the tech classes as you stated in labor guide manuals. What yo are doing would be a class B tech. Class A would be engine and trans rebuilding and some heavy duty diagnostics ( I like this, the ones no one else can fix, send em over.)
